4:00pm Campus Wide Purification Ceremony @ the Quad by West Hall

It is our privilege to welcome Chief Lee Plenty Wolf to Regis to accompany us in a traditional Purification Ceremony for our campus. The smudging ceremony is where we honor Indigenous leaders' presence and reimage our relationships with our environment.  The smoke from the burning of wild sage provides a bridge between mortal and higher realms and invites in protective energies while dispelling negative energies. This ceremony is for us, the Regis community, and is a spiritual response to student requests for a campus-wide blessing after our community experienced multiple tragedies.  It honors and celebrates Indigenous Heritage and Identities and is an act of generosity from the indigenous community in our midst. Through the practice of this Purification Ceremony and the companionship of Chief Lee Plenty Wolf, our community at Regis has the opportunity to decolonize the imaginaries of Indigenous practices and honor the presence of Native people as active participants of our dynamic spiritual community. Brought to campus through a collaboration between Student Affairs, University Ministry, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence.
